Cider Sunday: Meet the Maker Cider Market and Orchard Tours
Sunday, September 30, 12 - 4 PM
By tasting exceptional fruit and talking to exceptional cider makers, you’ll learn what makes apple varieties more or less desirable for cider production, about the origins of flavors in orchard-based cider (hint: its the apples!), and how cider makers blend different apples to achieve balanced flavor .
To compliment the walking tours offered by Cornell researchers and educators, Finger Lakes cider makers will share tastings of their ciders and discuss how Cornell’s research and outreach efforts have aided their farm-based businesses. In addition to the hard cider, children and adults can taste dozens of different apple varieties, including traditional European hard cider varieties. Participants will be able to create their own cider blends made with freshly squeezed apple juice from these apple varieties.
Participating cider makers include Black Diamond Cider, Grisamore Cider Works, Good Life Farm-Kite & String Cider, Redbyrd Orchard Cider, New York Cider Company, Eve's Cidery and South Hill Cider.
Cornell Catering will also have complimentary food pairings.
