Transplanting day.

This Cider Plants Trees

We are planting trees for the future.

Forests that, with any luck, will long outlive us.

Right here in the Finger Lakes.

By supporting our farm you are helping us plant more of these trees every year.

Our goal is to leave this landscape better than when we found it. With deeper soils, cleaner water, more biodiversity, and yes, more trees.

This is a young project that will take many years, but hopefully last many centuries. And we are at the beginning.

What We Are Doing

We’ve started a small nursery to grow many thousands of these trees we are after, starting with unique varieties of black locust and chestnuts. And in the coming years we plan for hickories, mulberries and more.

We are planting a few acres of these trees every year and plan to scale this over time. The first acres will be planted in the Spring of 2024 with trees from our nursery.

These trees are being planted into old pastures and crop lands in our rural neighborhood. To provide food for humans and animals alike. To provide shade for grazing animals. To provide habitat for songbirds and tree frogs. To pull carbon deep underground and store it in more rich black topsoil.

This is an effort to return some abundance to this land that has given us so much.
